ART, JOURNALISM, RESISTANCE
FOR PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF NEVER GIVING UP/ PARA AQUELLOS QUE CREEN EN EL PODER DE NO RENDIRSE
Español & English
There can never be enough feminism in the world and there is certainly too much violence and especially violence against women. For those who are afraid of feminism, threatened by it, think it's no longer (or never has been) necessary, I just want to tell you: there is nothing to worry about. Feminism is just about justice. That's all. That's everything.
1. Vigilance: Fierce Feminisms is for everyone who believes in the power of never giving up.
2. Feminism is about justice for all living creatures including the earth.
3. Vigilance is about no longer allowing those who exploit others and the earth to get away with it and fighting to not let it happen in the first place.
We invite writers of both prose and poetry (in English and Spanish), visual artists, and performance artists to submit essays, stories, poetry, journalism, paintings, photography (especially photo essays), videos of performances and protests—any work that is connected to fighting for justice, exposing exploitation and projects that work towards building awareness, developing empathy and resisting exploitation through beauty. “Vigilance: Fierce Feminisms” brings together activisms from around the world through art, journalism, and resistance.
The magazine will also be featuring Protest Placards. If you have a photo of one or made one that you are particularly proud of, please send me a jpg and some context.
Currently spending a lot of my time in Mexico, I will be using this magazine as a platform to report what I am learning there in terms of violence and resistance in a series of dispatches. I invite others who are on the front lines of injustice from anywhere in the world to contribute and share their research and experiences to help build an understanding of how we are all connected to and complicit with suffering and how we can all contribute to its alleviation.

OPEN CALLS:
Revolution and Beauty
Open call for Visual and Performance Art, Essays, Poetry, Short Stories, Music and Journalism that address these questions:
How is beauty, the ability to appreciate, celebrate, create, and innovate through that which delights, an inherent part of revolution? How can we look at beauty as a source of emotive and ideological transformation? And, how is art as a mode of witnessing and deep feeling, a way of bringing us closest to a revolution of empathy, feeling beyond ourselves, beyond the individual, beyond convention and constraints of the linear?
Please submit to vigilancefiercefeminisms@gmail.com
Forage
Forage is a series featuring artists who use natural materials and found, or foraged, objects in their artwork. It addresses the ideas of what is left behind, what is lost and then found again, what has been here all along and overlooked, how the foraged can be seen differently than the bought, what the narrative is of the artist/witness interacting with the ‘coming-upon’ of their materials. How does the art—in its relinquishing of materials produced by consumer capitalism—speak to our contemporary world as acts of resistance?
To submit, please send 5 images, jpgs, minimum 3 mgs; narratives for each artwork or one narrative for all that describes your process and your realtionship to foraging in your artwork and a Bio to: vigilancefiercefeminisms@gmail.com.
Forage
